Pre-Installation Checklist for Window Coverings
1.Clear the Area:
-
- Remove any furniture, decorations, or fragile items near the windows where the coverings will be installed.
- Ensure there’s at least 3–4 feet of clear space in front of each window for the installers to work comfortably.
2.Take Down Old Window Coverings (if applicable):
-
- If you’re replacing old blinds, shades, or curtains, consider removing them before installation unless you’ve arranged for the installers to do this.
3.Clean the Windows and Surrounding Area:
-
- Wipe down the window frames, sills, and surrounding walls to ensure a clean installation area.
4.Secure Pets and Children:
-
- Keep pets and small children in a safe area away from the installation site to ensure their safety and avoid interruptions.
5.Ensure Accessibility:
-
- Provide clear access to the installation site, including any necessary keys or codes if you won’t be home during the installation.
6.Prepare for Noise and Dust:
-
- Be aware that minor noise and dust are normal during the installation process. Consider covering nearby furniture or flooring if needed.
7.Inspect for Pre-Existing Issues:
-
- Check for any damage, mold, or other issues around the windows. Notify the installer beforehand if there’s anything that might affect the installation.
8.Have Final Payment Ready:
-
- Ensure your final payment is prepared and ready to give to the installer on the day of installation, if this hasn’t already been completed.
9. Have Questions Ready:
If you have specific concerns or questions about the installation process, jot them down to discuss with the installer when they arrive.
